Newcastle vs Chelsea

Newcastle are set to take on Chelsea at St. James Park as Enzo Maresca faces pressure in his role amidst trouble with the board, and Newcastle look to recover from their loss against bitter rivals Sunderland.

The last ten games between these sides have ended in four wins each and two draws, making this fixture as interesting as ever.

The JLA Tactics Board Is Now Available… https://jlatacticsboard.com/

Newcastle are set to lineup with just one change from their 1-0 loss to Sunderland last weekend, as Fabian Schar replaces the injured Dan Burn.

With Yoane Wissa making his first start for Newcastle in the Carabao Cup against Fulham and scoring his first goal, he is likely to have a bigger role to play against Chelsea.

Nick Woltemade is still likely to start however, giving a chance for him to redeem himself following his own goal in the Tyne-Wear derby.

Chelsea are set to reintroduce Moises Caicedo in the league following his return from suspension, though the rest should remain unchanged from their win over Everton.

Alejandro Garnacho will be hoping to continue his goal scoring following his two goals against Cardiff in the Carabao Cup.

I Used Data To Find Man Utd’s Perfect Midfielder.

Man United don’t just need a new midfielder - they need the right one. Scroll through social media or listen to post-match punditry and you’ll hear the same names thrown around every week, usually based on short compilations, but what happens when you strip away the hype and let the numbers do the talking?

Howe’s Hunt For A Clean Sheet

With Newcastle now failing to keep a clean sheet in their last nine Premier League games, Eddie Howe will be hoping that this weekend they can make their job easier by shutting Chelsea out.

With Chelsea scoring the third most goals in the league, this will be easier said than done for the Magpies, especially with Pedro Neto, Garnacho, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer all scoring within their last three games in all competitions, as well as Estevao available.

Not to mention Dan Burn’s injury meaning he will be out of the game despite starting all but one league game this season, though Schar will be looking to take the opportunity to cement his place in the side once again, and a clean sheet could be the perfect start to doing so.

Woltemade Woe

After a nightmare first Tyne-Wear derby, heading the only goal of the game into the wrong net, Woltemade will be desperate to get back to form against Chelsea in order to make it up to the Newcastle fans.

With five goals and plenty of brilliant performances, it is clear that he is capable of brilliance, and that brilliance could be exactly what Newcastle need to beat Chelsea.

Maresca Under Pressure?

With Maresca facing pressure, with his comments on the worst 48 hours he’d experienced at Chelsea following the win against Everton, suggesting his unhappiness with the board.

Despite delivering a Carabao Cup semi-final place, a chance to make it to his third final at Chelsea, there have been talks of him potentially leaving his role.

His comments, and the subsequent backlash seem to have rallied the Chelsea fans around the manager however, and to further build that bond with the fans, a win against Newcastle could be huge.

Gamechanger Palmer

Cole Palmer has recently returned to playing for Chelsea, with starts against Bournemouth and Everton, scoring against the latter in their 2-0 win.

With his inclusion in the FIFPro World XI, Chelsea fans will be extremely thankful to have him back in the team, especially given his brilliance for the last two seasons, and they’ll be excited to see how he kicks on now that he has started playing again after his injury.

Palmer Statmuse Graphic

The English attacking midfielder could be the decider against Newcastle, like he has been so many times before for the Blues.

With Newcastle vs Chelsea being the fixture with the most home wins in Premier League history, with history suggesting that Newcastle have the edge in this game.

In reality, it seems more likely that Chelsea win, with many players in good form and their higher position in the table, as well as the recent upturn in support of the manager, Chelsea should win.

Prediction: 1-3
