Everton vs Newcastle

With both sides on the back of big wins against the Manchester clubs, Newcastle travel to the Hill Dickinson stadium to take on Everton.

How Will They Lineup?

Everton look set to make two changes to their starting eleven from their last game, with Jake O’Brien and Tim Iroegbunam expected to replace the injured Seamus Coleman and suspended Idrissa Gueye.

With Lewis Hall going off injured against Man City, Dan Burn’s return from suspension should see him return to the starting lineup at left back, with the rest of the side unchanged.

Newcastle’s Poor Away Form

Eddie Howe’s side are still chasing their first away win in the Premier League this season, which has been the biggest factor in their fall to 14th place.

If Newcastle want to improve their position and get back to the Champions League places they want to fight for, they will need to start winning away from home, and the Hill Dickinson stadium will be an opportunity to kick on.

Despite this, the last five home games for Everton against Newcastle stand at two wins each and a draw, showing that it isn’t a game that the Magpies tend to be most comfortable in.

Bright Barnes

The man of the moment right now for Newcastle is Harvey Barnes, with four goals and one assist in his last four games, he has been on fire recently. The Man City game was the pick of the bunch as his two goals secured them the win.

Despite scoring two goals, he also missed two big chances, accumulating 1.47 xG in total, which may be seen as a worry, however, his ability to get into good positions has been second to none in the Newcastle team recently.

With his goal against Marseille on Tuesday a continuation of his form, despite the loss, it seems like he could be the answer to the elusive away win that has been just out of reach this season.

Everton Back In Form?

On the back of a tough bunch of fixtures for Everton, they have got back to winning ways with two on the trot against Fulham and Man United, even doing so with ten men at Old Trafford.

They dominated against Fulham, with four big chances and 1.44 xG, with the trio of Iliman Ndiaye, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish all contributing to the strong performance going forward.

On the contrary, against Manchester United, who admittedly were poor, they showed a lot of fight to go 1-0 up while down to ten men, not to mention holding on to the lead, with much thanks to Jordan Pickford’s heroics.

This has proven that David Moyes’ side can win through outclassing their opposition, or by holding out when their backs are against a wall, which is a valuable characteristic for any team, and it means they can adapt to whatever Newcastle throw at them.

Trouble In The Dressing Room

With Gueye’s sending off after a ‘bust-up’ with Michael Keane, questions will inevitably be raised about the togetherness of the Everton team, and how they will react on the weekend.

Moyes shared that Gueye had apologised, and that there were no further issues, but there is obviously still more to be seen on the weekend on how true that is, and also how much they’ll miss the Senegalese midfielder.

If the performance against United showed anything though, it’s that there will be no problems going forward, as the rest of the team put the effort in to secure the victory.

This is a fixture that has shown it can be one of the most exciting of the season, with the rivalry between the fans growing through the unpredictability of the games in the past.

With Newcastle chasing their first away win of the season, and Everton looking to build some form as they continue to steer clear of the relegation fights they’ve faced in recent years, it will all be up for grabs at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Prediction – 2-2
