Josh Sargent
• Position: Striker
• Age: 25
• Nationality: United States
• Market Value: £17.5m
Josh Sargent already has Premier League experience with Norwich from the 2021/22 season, in which they finished rock bottom, scoring only 23 goals. Since then, he has had three consecutive Championship campaigns, scoring 13, 16 and 15 goals respectively. Last season, he also registered five assists, giving him the best G/A return of his career.
This season, Norwich have struggled—particularly under their now former manager, Liam Manning, who managed only three wins in 15 games. Despite their poor start, Sargent has still produced six goals and three assists so far.
He is a well-rounded centre-forward who is effective with his back to goal, but also capable of driving his team up the pitch, averaging 1.79 progressive carries and 1.19 successful take-ons per 90. His 0.53 npxG + xAG this season ranks in the 77th percentile among strikers outside Europe’s top five leagues—not bad for someone playing for a side sitting 23rd in the Championship, only above Sheffield Wednesday, who were put into administration.
